Dr. Ra’sheedah Richardson Merriweather is the Director of Educational Development and Recognition (EDR) at the Center for Teaching Excellence. In this role, she provides leadership support to EDR program teams advancing faculty development programming focused on evidence-based teaching strategies; graduate student and future faculty professional development in teaching; English language proficiency with an emphasis on classroom instruction; and faculty awards and recognition initiatives.
She also provides consultation and design support for educational outreach initiatives, particularly summer research programs for high school teachers and informal learning experiences for undergraduate students. In addition, she supports the Center’s daily operations and serves as a campus representative for the nationally recognized Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL).
Dr. Merriweather is devoted to the nurturing of future and current college educators prepared to advance teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Her diverse teaching and research experiences, which span more than two decades, have helped her to develop a pedagogical and interpersonal approach that allows her to relate to and engage learners of various demographic backgrounds and intellectual experiences.
Dr. Merriweather’s Clifton Strengths are Developer, Achiever, Arranger, Positivity, and Harmony. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education, and a Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Merriweather champions innovative teaching practices that elevate higher education. She envisions a future where transformative education, propelled by teaching excellence across the higher education landscape, meets dynamic educational needs.
